How it works

Upload, check, download

Checked automatically against the published rules, inside your browser — never uploaded, and never seen by anyone but you.

Step 01

Select document

US passport, visa, DS-160, green card or DV lottery. Each has its own rule set — 2×2 in, head height, file size.

Step 02

Upload your photo

JPEG, PNG, HEIC or WEBP straight from your phone. It is read in your browser and never transmitted.

Step 03

Check the photo

Eighteen checks run instantly: head height, eye height, level, background shadow, red-eye, file size. You see which ones passed.

Step 04

Download photo & print sheet

Get a 600×600 JPEG plus print sheets: 4×6 with six 2×2 copies for a photo lab, or A4 / US Letter with twenty copies for your own printer.

How we verify

What the report checks

We compare your photo against the published rules for the document you picked. We do not retouch the face. If a rule cannot be verified from the image, we say so instead of guessing.

  • Head size and position — head height and eye height from 68 facial landmarks, clearance above the head, and how far the face sits from the centre line.
  • Framing and level — the square crop, how much the photo is tilted, and how straight-on you are to the camera.
  • Background — brightness, colour cast, evenness, shadow on the wall, and watermarks, logos or stamps in the corners.
  • Face — one person only, mouth closed, eyes open with no red-eye, and the angle of your head.
  • File — format, pixel size, aspect ratio, colour, and the size limit for your document.
  • What only you can confirm — expression, glasses, headwear and photo age, because no image file proves them.

FAQ

Questions

Do you alter my face or retouch the photo?

No. We crop, resize and export a JPEG. Nothing else is touched. US rules prohibit digitally altering a photo to change how you look, and an altered photo is one of the fastest ways to get an application rejected. That is also why we do not rotate a slightly tilted photo — straightening leaves a filled strip where the frame runs out of picture, and a filled strip is exactly what reviewers look for. A couple of degrees of head tilt is usually fine; we show you the number and let you decide.

The same rule covers marks on the picture: a watermark, logo, stamp, sticker or caption anywhere in the frame gets an application rejected. The checker flags dense detail in the four corners, which is where those usually sit. It cannot reliably spot a caption sitting in the middle of a plain background, so look at your own photo once before you submit it.

Where do the rules come from?

From the pages the US government publishes: the State Department's passport and visa photo requirements, the photo composition template, and the USCIS instructions for Form I-485. We record the source for each figure and re-check them periodically.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. The analysis and the export run in your browser. Your photo is never transmitted to us, and closing the tab discards it.

What is included for $4.99?

The full-resolution file with the watermark removed (600×600 JPEG or larger where the document allows), plus print sheets in 4×6, A4 and US Letter. All of it is generated on your device.

What if my photo is rejected?

If it passes every check we run and is still rejected, we redo it free — send the order number and the rejection notice. If the report warned you about something and you submitted anyway, that one is on the photo, not the tool.

Can I use a selfie or a photo from my phone?

Yes, as long as someone else takes it or you use a timer — the camera must be at eye level and the photo must not be tilted. Turn off portrait and beauty modes; those filters change your face.

Ready when you are

Your photo has to pass someone else's check. Run ours first.

Takes about a minute. No account, no upload, and a free redo if the file fails our own check.
